Road freight in the UAE covers domestic trucking between emirates, port and airport drayage, free zone transfers, and cross-border FTL and LTL loads into Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain. Because the whole country is within a few hours by road, most domestic movements are same-day or next-day.

How a road movement is arranged

  1. Load definedWeight, dimensions, number of pallets and whether the cargo is stackable determine the vehicle.
  2. Vehicle assignedPickup, 3-tonne, 7-tonne, curtainside, flatbed or 40ft trailer, matched to the access at both ends.
  3. DocumentationDelivery note and, for cross-border loads, the export declaration, manifest and border paperwork.
  4. CollectionLoading at your site within the agreed window, with tail lift or forklift where needed.
  5. TransitDirect running domestically; scheduled border formalities on cross-border loads.
  6. Delivery and proofSigned delivery note returned, with photographs on request.

What to know before you book

Access decides the vehicle more often than weight does. A 40ft trailer cannot enter many older industrial compounds, residential streets or basement loading bays. Telling us the gate width, whether there is a ramp or dock, and whether a forklift is available at each end prevents the most common cause of failed collections and waiting-time charges.

Cross-border loads are documentation exercises, not driving exercises. The driving time from Dubai to Riyadh or Muscat is predictable; the variable is the border. Manifest accuracy, matching invoice values, correct HS codes and any destination conformity requirement determine whether a truck crosses in hours or waits a day.

Free zone movements are customs movements. Taking cargo out of a free zone onto the mainland, or between two free zones, needs its own declaration even though the truck never leaves the country. We file it before the vehicle arrives at the gate so the load is not turned back.

What affects the price

  • Vehicle size and type — the base rate for any road job.
  • Distance and route — an Al Ain or Fujairah run costs more than an intra-Dubai move.
  • Loading and unloading equipment — tail lift, crane or forklift requirements.
  • Waiting time — free loading time is limited; delays at either end are chargeable.
  • Border formalities — customs, inspection and any escort requirements on cross-border loads.
  • Return load availability — cross-border FTL rates soften when a backload is likely.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a domestic UAE delivery take?

Most emirate-to-emirate movements are same-day or next-day. Dubai to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain are routine same-day runs; Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Al Ain are usually same-day if booked early.

What is the difference between FTL and LTL?

FTL is a dedicated vehicle carrying only your cargo — faster and with no consolidation handling. LTL is a shared load where you pay for the space you use, cheaper for part-loads but with extra transit time for collection and drop stops.

Can you truck a container from the port to my warehouse?

Yes. We arrange drayage from Jebel Ali, Khalifa, Sharjah and Fujairah, and monitor free time so the empty is returned before detention begins.

Do you handle free zone to mainland movements?

Yes, including the customs declaration and duty settlement where it applies. The declaration is filed before the truck reaches the gate.

What vehicles do you use?

Pickups and 3-tonne trucks for small loads, 7 and 10-tonne trucks for pallets, curtainside and box trailers for volume, and flatbeds or lowbeds for machinery and out-of-gauge cargo.

Can you move cargo into Saudi Arabia or Oman by road?

Yes. Cross-border FTL and LTL into all five GCC neighbours is a core service, with border documentation prepared as part of the job.
